Hawaii is opening back up to tourism!

After more than six months of closure, Hawaii announced last week that they will be accepting tourist again on October 15th. A negative COVID test (NAAT) is required to be taken within 72 hours of travel. You are also required to register on the State of Hawaii Safe Travels digital system. Upon entry, you will have your temperature checked and must complete a health questionnaire prior to leaving the airport.

Once Hawaii announced their opening, United Airlines became the first airline to provide rapid Abbott ID NOW COVID-19 tests to clients traveling to Hawaii via SFO. Results are provided within 15 minutes and available to customers on the same day as their flight departs SFO. The cost of these tests are $250 & cannot be billed to personal insurance policies. They are also providing a mail-in test option, which is administered by Color. This test should be requested at least 10 days prior to travel and the sample provided within 72 hours of travel.

Hawaii Airlines is following United's lead and also offering drive-through testing near LAX & SFO airports. These tests will cost $90 for results within 36 hours & $150 for day-of-travel express service.

Note: The COVID19 situation remains fluid & current policies in place are subject to change. Check out Go Hawaii for updated information and reach out to Via Travel Service to plan you trip to the Aloha state!
